| Never heard of this term before I got into Nissans and honestly never worried about it. However, I picked up this 90 NA in non-running condition a few weeks ago and have been quickly working on bringing it back to life. It had sat in a garage for the last 7 years (was stickered last in 07) and wouldn't start. I couldnt get an ohm reading on ANY injector even after cleaning the contacts so I went ahead and replaced them along with a full 120k kit and other misc odds and ends.
A few days later I had it running but it had quite a nasty smell on the interior. Got to poking around and found mouse turds and piss all over the place. Just about every body channel had interior insulation stuffed in it somewhere. I vacuumed the interior out a bit before yanking the seats....you can see a little comparison here
After a thorough cleaning, I was not happy with the results and I decided to tear the entire interior out to inspect the heater core. Look at what I found....

Since I had about 95% of the interior on hand from a part-out I decided to swap everything out to get rid of the smell. I bleached all of the bare metal parts and went through it all

The interior of the car is now in great shape......just need to replace the ebrake boot and I think I'll be happy. Now, we get to the engine bay....boy was this thing neglected And no this picture is not in black and white....lol
I'll start by saying I'm by no means a "detailer" and am much more of a "nuts and bolts" kinda guy. For cleaning the engine bay I used the following tools Heat Gun Plastic Razor Blades WD40 Lots of rags
I started a test spot on the front core support. Use the heat gun to get the cosmoline sticky, and scrap it off with a razor blade. The cosmoline will lighten in color when its "ready"
Scrap it off
Now coat the rag with WD40 and wipe it off. This will take lots of elbow grease
Here you can see I'm progressivey working my way (randomly) around the engine bay

Here we are finished up for the night. Still need to get what I can along the firewall but I'm not going for the all out "show" detail job here. Just want to clean it up to make it presentable enough to put on the market and into a good home. I will say there's a night and day difference between the before and after. PS - No one needs to point out the cruise is missing, throttle cover missing, etc - Its all just removed for cleaning purposes :)
